Biography

Hi, my name is Maria Guillily, PhD, I’m a professional instructional designer with experience in creating effective, engaging learning solutions for Healthcare and Biological science related industries.
I currently work as the lead Instructional Designer in HR at a Boston based Healthcare institute. I spend much of my time supporting the learning community and designing engaging trainings to meet institute compliance and digital transformation goals including a Workday implementation.
- I’ve worked previously as both a science instructor/professor and as a biomedical researcher. I have my PhD in Biomedical Neuroscience and Pharmacology from Boston University School of Medicine where I studied the genetic contributors of Parkinson’s disease. My analytical and research skills combine with my instructional design knowledge to provide an in-depth skill set I can offer to my clients.
- I’m well-versed in the latest instructional design methodologies, such as ADDIE and SAM, and I’m proficient in various eLearning authoring tools like Articulate Storyline and Rise.
- My approach blends my abilities to make information accessible and understand the science of adult learning with instructional design best practices to ensure each project is not only effective but also meets the unique needs of both the learners and the organization.
- Validating the efficacy of training through a number of metrics is an essential component of providing value to clients. I created a Medicare Secondary Payer questionnaire eLearning training for front desk based on a task analysis that targeted essential tasks rather than general background information. Following the training, staff were assessed for their understanding of how to handle specific patient scenarios, demonstrating a 40% increase in their ability to accurately categorize common patient scenarios.
- I believe in a collaborative approach to instructional design, working closely with clients to ensure I’m aligned with their goals every step of the way. In 2020, I collaborated with a lead faculty member in Veterinary Nutrition to design, develop, and implement a nascent eLearning program for the Mark Morris Institute, meeting their specific needs in training Veterinary students in the science of nutrition. Over 2,000 students were effectively trained and the eLearning program is still in use 5 years later, as a blended training component, having been shown to be as effective or in some cases more so than standard didactic lectures.
If you’re looking for someone who values both the art and science of learning design, I’d love to connect and explore how I can help you create meaningful, lasting educational experiences for your organization. Thank you for visiting my site, and I look forward to the opportunity to work together.
